FCS Dress Code Vision
As an ambassador of Christ, we are called to love by sacrificially putting others ahead of ourselves. To honor our
teachers and classmates, we must express humility, modesty, and minimize distractions. At the same time, FCS
values unity over conformity to a strict authoritarian structure and honors spheres of authority in which the school,
family, and individual have voice in how a student dresses. George Grant refers to this idea as “the one and the
many.” Thus, the dress code is a modified uniform that gives some freedom to choose options within unifying
boundaries of color and style. Additionally, FCS values Semper Reformanda, which means “always reforming.” Thus,
the choices grow and diversify as students get older.
Putting all of these principles together, the vision of the FCS modified uniform is to honor God by presenting
ourselves beautifully, modestly, and harmoniously while giving some freedom to choose options within unifying
boundaries of color and style.
